Tusk Student Admissions

At Tusk Productions our mission is to produce happy and successful students while being the friendliest go-to people for mathematics in NSW. In our hearts and minds at Tusk Productions, every student comes FIRST irrespective of their academic result, ability or level of study. The only requirement for gaining admission to Tusk Productions is that your child must join us with a positive, proactive attitude and be willing to work to improve their mathematics outcomes. Note Bene: WILLING WORKERS ONLY!

If your child has an existing negative, indifferent, non-engaged attitude to the study of their mathematics then admission to Tusk Productions is not appropriate. At Tusk, we seek to work with willing workers who have a proactive attitude whether they currently see themselves as mathematics battlers in a lower-level course or mathematics heroes in a higher-level course.

Only NSW High School students from Year 7 to Year 12, up to and including Extension 1 Mathematics, are eligible for admission to Tusk Productions.

Admission Process

Possible admission as a student at Tusk Productions begins with a phone conversation between a parent of the prospective student and Paul F Walsh OAM. If your child’s admission is approved by Paul F Walsh OAM, you will then be asked to provide Tusk Productions with your personal email address and postal address to enable further communications.

Tusk Managing Director Paul F Walsh OAM was the Chancellor’s special VIP guest at two successive mathematics graduations at the University of Newcastle. The Chancellor, Paul Jeans, wrote: ‘As an Alumnus of the University, a recipient of the Newton-John Award for Innovation and Creativity and, in recognition of your contribution to mathematics and the community as a whole, I would like to invite you to the Faculty of Science and Information Technology graduation ceremony..’

How does mathematics mentoring and tutoring at Tusk Productions actually work?

In addition to their one-hour face-to-face tutorial session per week, students at Tusk Productions experience the winning flexibility of being able to ask for tutorial assistance via their smart phones at the exact time that they need that assistance at any reasonable hour seven-days-per-week during term time. All such inspirational communications with your child are personally conducted by Paul F Walsh OAM and Susan Harvey.

If you, as a parent, think back to your own school days you might better appreciate what it would be like to have constant access to mathematics support outside school hours, and an ability to request solutions and/or advice with respect to specific mathematics questions with which you are personally experiencing difficulty. This scenario would have been a fantastic dream during your school years, but we, Susan and Paul at Tusk Productions, are offering it as a fantastic reality for your child’s current school years.

Student Engagement

At Tusk Productions, we have students who are constantly dialoguing with us on matters mathematical via their smart phones and students who are periodically dialoguing with us on a needs basis, but all of our students are comforted by the knowledge that we are constantly available should they need us.

It should be noted that we encourage our students to proactively engage with us in accord with their particular mathematics needs, and we seek to inspire them and their parents in identifying those needs, but we will not intrude on the lives of our students or the lives of their parents by seeking to dictate what those mathematics needs should be.

We can communicate inspirational suggestions regarding such possible mathematics needs, but each student needs to decide for themselves WHAT THEY NEED, OR DO NOT NEED, and their decisions need to be respected by us as their mathematics mentors.

Terms and Conditions

At Tusk Productions, the term fee of $550 (incl GST) must be paid in full prior to the commencement of the school term. This fee is not refundable, in part or in whole, under any circumstances, but you are only ever asked to commit to paying for one school term at a time. Though most of our clients stay with us for many succeeding terms, you are under no obligation to continue once your child has experienced their first school term with Tusk Productions.

Most of our clients pay by direct deposit, but cheques are also acceptable. Methods of payment details are clearly stated on the Tax Invoice that you will receive via email shortly after admission to Tusk Productions has been granted to your child.

Should your child commence their first school term with Tusk Productions after that term has commenced, then the you will pay a reduced pro rata fee to cover the remaining balance of that term.
